Activities

Activities
There are lots of activities to do around Gower – whatever the weather.

Walking
There are plenty of walks along the coast and up on the Bryn with beautiful views of the Gower. Three Cliffs Bay, The Worm’s Head, and Rhossilli Down are well-known walks. For inland walking the woods at Penrice are a great place to explore.

Swimming
There are plenty of family-friendly beaches around the Gower at Horton, Port Eynon, Slade, Oxwich, Mewslade (not accessible at high tide) and Rhossilli.

Surfing
Llanegenith is one of the UK’s best surfing spots. There are several surf hire shops and surf schools that offer lessons and equipment hire. Other surfing-friendly beaches include Caswell and Langland bays, and Horton when the conditions are right.

Fishing
There are plenty fishing opportunities in Gower on beaches and rocks. The Gower Peninsular is famous for its bass fishing and is well-suited to both the holiday angler and the more experienced sea angler.

During the summer months you can fish for mackerel, bass and flatfish fishing from both shore and boat. If you have your own boat, there is access from Port Eynon and Oxwich Bays to plenty of fishing marks.

Charter boat trips are available from the marina at Swansea and details can be found at either of the two fishing shops in Swansea – Mainwarings and Swansea Sea Angling Centre

Wildlife
Gower provides excellent opportunities for wildlife enthusiasts, from bird-watching to seal-spotting and maybe even basking sharks in the summer (plankton-eaters!). There is always plenty of wonderful marine life in the rock pools all along the coast to keep you entertained. Watch out for the wild ponies and sheep who wander freely over the Bryn.
